Info for Parents:

The following information will be useful to help make your child's day at Rainbow Village a happy and successful one.

What to Wear to School

Children should wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for indoor and outdoor play (not party shoes, flip flops, best dress, etc.)

During spring and fall, the weather is unpredictable, so provide a variety of warm and light clothing. Snow pants in winter are necessary and splash pants for spring are ideal. A hat in summer is essential. Please make sure all items, especially boots, snow pants and mitten are labeled.

Your child needs extra clothing at daycare at all times. Toilet accidents, spilled milk and paint etc. can happen at any time and any age. If your child does not have extra clothing when needed, you will be called at work to bring some over. We have very few extra clothes at the centre.

What to Bring

Other than extra clothing, your child needs a small blanket for nap time. If necessary, you are required to provide diapers, wipes and bottles. Please make sure bottles are labeled and have caps. In warm weather, if you wish your child to wear sunscreen there is a form to sign and an extra charge.

Toys from Home

Your child may bring a doll or stuffed animal for nap time, however, we ask that you leave other toys at home. We do not wish to see your child's possessions damaged. Theme-related books and items are always welcome.

Snacks

We provide a nutritious morning and afternoon snack as well as a hot lunch. Children who come in early may bring a breakfast as long as it is healthy and nutritious. Some examples are muffins, toast, cereal, etc. Please note that we are a nut-free centre. For more information about meals and snacks, contact the centre.

Health and Medication

Children who have the following should not be brought to the centre: vomiting, fever, communicable diseases, diarrhea, unknown rash or discharge from eyes or ears. If your child becomes ill during the day a staff member will call you so that you may arrange to pick up your child. Regulations require that children play outdoors each day. It is our policy that children too ill to play outside remain at home.

If children require medication it must be in the original container. This must be clearly labeled with the child's name, dosage, date purchased and storage information. A form must be filled out and medication must be hand delivered to a staff member.

Birthdays

We love a party! We celebrate birthdays at afternoon snack. If you wish, you may bring a cake, cupcakes, etc. for your child's class.

Parent Involvement

You are always welcome at our centre. We have two annual events for the children and their families. There is a family B.B.Q. in June and a Christmas Party and concert in December.

We are here to provide a happy and healthy environment for your child. If you have any ideas or concerns, please feel free to discuss them with us. We look forward to many exciting Rainbow Village years with your child.
