January Stories
The new year of 2021 started with a quiet and calm atmosphere at Rainbow Village. After coming back from the holidays, the children still remembered all the holiday excitement and memories they built together at the centre and in their homes. Slowly children seemed to be coming back from holiday excitement and settled back into their routines. However, as the new year began, they seemed to gain more maturity and enhanced interest in counting, singing and reading with others.

We had a few in house birthday parties for the children who were born in January. The excitement of having celebrations together singing birthday songs as a group brought joy to the little ones and the excitement especially under the pandemic reality.

Also, we welcome a few new faces to our group this month. The transition process was exceptionally smooth this time. They settled into the new environment nicely and their unique characters added different dynamics into the class. We are happier together because we are different!

The interests observed from the teachers were :
Birthdays (celebrations, imaginary play in baking cakes, recognizing months)
Family: (Name of each member, nursery rhymes, fingerplays, puppets storytelling, imaginary play with dollhouse)
Goldilocks & The Three Bears: (storytelling)
Shapes and Numbers: (Recognizing different shapes, cutting out shapes, counting bears, naming colours, flashcards, painting with shape stencils)
Animals (Sensory play with water and animals, structuring a farmhouse from waffle blocks, playdough and footprints, using paper plate to make cows and sheep, sing-alongs to Oh MacDonald Had A Farm)
